Balikbayan Box Weight

We hope this note finds you and your family safe and healthy. We would like to thank you for your continued support as we all navigate through this unusual time.

In accordance to the International Maritime Organization (IMO)'s Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) Chapter VI specifications on the Gross Mass Weight Requirement of Containers, Atlas Shippers East (ASE) needs to implement a weight of around 130 - 150 lbs. maximum for each balikbayan box. This is necessary in order for ASE to abide to the federal mandate. This will also enable us to serve our shippers better by preventing any cause for delay due to the weight of the shipment. And lastly, for the safety of everyone handling the boxes from one location to another, the boxes need to be moved swiftly and with care; this can be better done when boxes are under or within the specified weight.
